What to Expect.
Bringing fiber internet directly to homes and businesses takes a few steps — but we’ll keep you informed along the way. Construction will happen in phases throughout Prairie du Chien, so the timing may look a little different depending on your neighborhood.
Here’s what you can expect from construction to connection.
1.
Mainline Fiber Construction
First, crews will build the main fiber network through your neighborhood. You may see utility markings, construction equipment, boring crews and temporary disturbances within the right-of-way.
Whenever possible, crews will use underground boring methods to minimize disruption to streets, sidewalks and yards.
2.
Home Site Survey
Before your fiber drop & final installation, we’ll work with you to determine the best setup for your home.
During the site survey, we’ll identify where the exterior fiber box should be placed, where the fiber should enter your home and where you’d like your router located. We’ll also consider your home’s layout so your equipment is placed in a practical location for your household.
You’ll have a say in where your equipment goes — we won’t just pick a spot and surprise you.
3.
Your Fiber Drop
If you’ve signed up for service, a smaller fiber line — called a drop — will be installed from the mainline fiber to your home or business.
The fiber drop is typically buried underground and routed to the location where it will enter your property.
4.
Property Restoration & Cleanup
Construction can temporarily disturb grass, soil or landscaping along the fiber route. Once work is complete, crews will clean up the construction area and restore disturbed areas as appropriate.
You may still notice signs of construction while grass and landscaping recover, but our goal is to leave your property in good condition.
5.
Inside Installation
Once the network and your fiber drop are ready, we’ll schedule your installation.
A technician will bring the fiber connection into your home, install the necessary equipment and set up your router in the location determined during your survey. Before leaving, we’ll make sure your connection and Wi-Fi are working properly.
6.
You're Connected!
That’s it — your home is officially connected to Tributary fiber internet.
You’ll now have a fiber connection built to handle everything your household throws at it, from streaming and gaming to working from home, video calls and all those connected devices.
Construction Happens in Phases
Building an entirely new fiber network takes time. Construction will move through Prairie du Chien neighborhood by neighborhood throughout 2027, which means some addresses may be ready for service earlier than others.
